Tim Shea, North Dakota \u201977, <\/em>Simulation Coordinator for the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences Simulation Center and Medical Operations Director of SIM-ND, has earned his Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist \u2013 Advanced (CHSOS-A) designation. The designation is granted by the international Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSiH). Shea is among only twenty-nine people in the world who currently hold this certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CHSOS-<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A certification is a portfolio-based certification for leaders in healthcare simulation operations. As the SSiH puts it, \u201cCHSOS-A designees are leaders who impact and influence the field of healthcare simulation. These individuals have proven themselves to be advanced in their practice and serve as examples to others in the field, positioning themselves to serve as leaders, mentors, and advocates for simulation. Such professionals can critically self-reflect and set and achieve professional development goals. While highly skilled in developing and integrating individual simulation activities into the larger continuum of learning (e.g. curricula), the impact and influence of a CHSOS-A is felt beyond their local organization.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTim is in an elite group of individuals,\u201d said Dr. Jon Allen, Shea\u2019s supervisor, and director of the SMHS Simulation Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tim served his North Dakota Alpha Chapter as its president and vice president, has worked on its house corporation, and currently served on the chapter advisory board. Tim Shea worked as a chapter consultant at General Headquarters from 1978-1980.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
