Shane Heiman completed his fifth Dirty Kanza 200, the ‘World’s Premier Endurance Gravel Road Race’ on June 2. Completing the grueling 206-mile gravel race in the Flint Hills Region of East Central Kansas earned Heiman a place in the Gravel Grail 1,000-mile club. The award-winning 2nd grade educator in the Lawrence (Kansas) Public School System is an avid gravel bike athlete who finished in 19 hours, 52 minutes and 34 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Dirty Kanza drew riders from across the United States and from 17 nations around the world to participate in the DK XL 350-mile and DK 200-mile competitive races, as well as the 100-mile, 50-mile, and 25-mile non-competitive personal challenge rides. Since 2005 when 34 rode the first year, Dirty Kanza has grown to 2,700 registered riders in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
