Mark Bye, MIT ‘7<\/em>8, is a recognized global business leader with over forty years of experience across the industrials, chemicals, and energy sectors. He has led a wide range of public and private enterprises, consistently driving value creation and profitable growth through strategies including organic growth, product innovation, M&A, geographic expansion, and operational restructuring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bye joined Morgan Stanley in 2008 as a managing director in London, where he led the European private equity team and oversaw global investments in the industrials, basic materials, and energy sectors. He served thirteen years as a partner in both the mid-market private equity and energy capital funds, followed by an additional three years as a senior adviser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before Morgan Stanley, he was CEO of DyStar GmbH, a private equity\u2013owned specialty chemicals company based in Frankfurt. Earlier in his career, he spent twenty-three years at Air Products and Chemicals (NYSE: APD), holding senior leadership roles including VP of performance chemicals, president of air products Asia, and group executive of the $8B Global Gases & Equipment Group. He also held management roles at Union Carbide Corporation and Energy Investment, a Boston-based energy consulting firm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, Bye supports several technology-driven startups through his firm, The Bye Group, LLC. He is passionate about working with early-stage CEOs to develop strategies for value creation in innovation-focused businesses. With extensive international experience, Bye has lived and worked in six countries and brings a deep understanding of global business dynamics and cultures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He serves on several boards, including Carus Corporation, LifeAire Systems LLC, and the Phi Delta Theta Foundation. He previously served on the board of Schweitzer-Mauduit International (NYSE: SWM) prior to its merger with Neenah, Inc. He holds Bachelor\u2019s and Master\u2019s degrees in Chemical Engineering from MIT and completed the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is active in the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, MIT\u2019s Sandbox Innovation Fund and Energy Initiative, and serves on the MIT Corporation Visiting Committee for Chemical Engineering.
